Hour"

(Control Delete)

(Amit E)

(Guvibosch)

(Dothque)

פלנקטון (Plankt-on)

Pandora box!

"Psychedelic Stereo sounds a little like a combination of Joker meets Flying Lotus meeting … well … Mimosa"
 - i took this from the label's (Multi - you should know this one!)
Personally im not so sure about the Flying Lotus part, but definitely it's joker meet's someone dope from the west coast ;)
I know mimosa for a long time now and i had mixed emotions about them, from all the discography i could find no more then 3-4 track i used to drop on dancefloors... but still, every time i feel mimosa's basseline - i get this feeling of my guts flying into vertigo - and well, i like it big time.
From first beat i had a good feeling about the new album and dammn -  it worked ;)  as i never got so many pepole asking me for "what was that f@&^#n last tune bro?!?!" ever before ;) well guys - they call it "Pandora".
Big. Dope. Trippy.

Deep #2 // UNTOLD in jerusalem ?! - iv'e gotta be kiddi'n me

Ok, so this one gonna be called Deeeep #2 - and it comes with a massive ending.

I got a problem with dubstep - yes, basically i end up throwing away  9 of each 10  tracks i get to hear from this genre for being too much noisy-over-loaded-sawing and unpleasant to my li'l sensitive ears… if you can't relate to this - then i guss your'e still a bit young aren't you? ;)
If you do feel me - Then i've got some good news, in the vast sea of producers, there are always this people that have the need to take things to the next level. the man of the hour is "Untold". the uk based producer just got it. producing super-intellegnt beats - minamilistic as fuck, funky & trippy as hell. the sound untold brings is kind of a mixer of dub fortified with techno - house feel warped in tribal landscapes. the real shit that you just have to hear to understand.
ok ok, will not leave you without the real treat:

Mixtape for DubElWad#7, Featuring the mighty UNTOLD -  mixed by Hamster
And a tune.
Baobinga - Ride it ( Untold remix ) - fresh.

And another - sick hype mutation, but just a youtube link...
Ke$ha - tik tok ( Untold remix )  - Sick

Before i forget, :), this was written as a spoiler, why? because we at Dub-El-Wad took UNTOLD so hard that we ( alongside with tel aviv massive TABAC ) decided to fly him over so we can all hear this future profit together in a special event. yes!
This man is coming over to Jerusalem at the 25.3.

Prepare for a deep-intellagent-dubstep-techno-house-dope unforgettable night.

Wait wait wait.... Something's weird here (note that it's not "wrong" it's just weird).

Take King Cannibal - the name says it all really, but just to make sure, think of rough and tough hard-style dark BreakBass/Dubstep/DrumN'Bass.

Add Jahcoozi - Waky urban-tribe, Berlin based sound freaks with a groovy singer and hype that's mostly justified (check out their new EP, including a masterclass - as always - remix by our favourite Kalbata).

What comes out? Surely not... Minimal Techno??

Mind you, not your usual "hey I'm sexy and in Berlin" kind of techno that's way too dominant lately - I mean, it's dark, and bassy, but what else would you call it?

Studies in the Sound of the Future. Introduction.

Our time is a time when all the barriers are crossed. All the evolution of sound synthesis and manipulation now can be put on one memory card as small as your thumb in the form of collection of VST patches that may sound as real as the instruments (sometimes as big as a wardrobe) they emulate. And I believe with a small improvement of sensoric devices (or maybe even a simple piece of code), pretty soon it will be possible to play toy versions of exotic electronic instruments (based on electric field or light breaking, for example) on any average touchscreen phone. The technological future the human kind was dreaming and talking about so much since the end of the World War II has become present. But at the same time the romantic (or frightening) future that electronic music, driven by technological progress, was telling about has become a part of the past.

We're in 2010 now. 40 years ago we wondered that by the year 2010 we'll be flying not across the oceans but across the solar system. 30 years ago we saw the future as the time of intergalactical wars and in reality all we had was legendary "Star Wars" programme bluff. 20 years ago the future looked to us as the time when machines will conquer our world, but now we ourselves put our whole world inside the machine. 10 years ago we thought the future world will be nothing but a virtual reality transmitted in a mind of ever sleeping human body and now we invented the "Second Life". And electronic music was always reflecting these prophecies. Since the beginning of 21st century it has slowly become the sound of present. The glitches of Autechre's LP5 and EP7 were no longer futuristic soundscapes, but soundtracks to the Pentium's dreams, minimal techno and dubstep have become a reflection of despair and emptiness of big city life, breakcore has become the sound of rebellion and the futuristic sound is not drawing the pictures of the future any more but supports the surrounding everyday reality of iPhones, chips, social networks and internet shopping. And in general there's almost no musical genre that on any stage of the recording or production process does not include electronic manipulation - be it instruments, sound editing or mastering for CD. The future is no longer somewhere there far away - the future is here and now. Or maybe there's just no future any more.

In these series of posts we're going to travel back in time to learn about the music that shaped the sound of now and represented the romantic future for previous generations. Fasten your seat-belts, free your mind, turn up the volume and open your ears for the past sound of tomorrow.

Pirate Step Supreme

2009 was a good year for dubstep. In fact, from my perspective it was actually the best one so far - this was the year where the hype started to die down and the good things started to float to the surface. Different genres are now beginning to form out of the mass of basslines while the "Hey look! I figured how to operate the LFO effects in ableton live and I love it too much!" style of dubstep, way too dominant up until now, will at least be confined to the more specific Boregore-wannabe kids' part of dubstep, rather than rule its every part.

Enter the pirate: Out of the many excellent tracks that made 2009 a year for dubstepping, one track specifically made yours truly's fingers flex for the chance to press the play button - "The Chase" by Jack Sparrow (yes, that is his chosen name).

The Leeds-based, pirate-named producer is Tectonic's rising star, and in "The Chase" he had ingeniously put together a rolling dubstep track full of dark echoing voodoo energies with a briliant mixture of a tribal vibe and a minimalistic space feel - strangely fit for listening at home as well as chaos-making on a dancefloor.

And there you have it - my favourite dubstep track of 2009. Just press play on the youtube player to get your mind kicked:

Buy it here

Jack Sparrow's myspace here

And here's an interview with him on BBC. Now get this when he's asked about the Leeds dubstep scene:

"... and now there’s a handful of local DJs making moves on the scene. We're all really good mates, it's a real community vibe going on - we all just like dubstep. What's special though is that we're all from broad backgrounds musically. I just want to see more of the boys getting abroad and spreading the Leeds vibe..."

Now doesn't this sound like Jerusalem or what?
