Dubstep - 2010 style

So - Dubstep was the most exciting genre of music to emerge in recent years and last year (2009) it finally started to become seriously interesting. We're already half a year into 2010 so how is it all going in the dubstep world?

Not surprisingly, things are going in the same direction as before - splitting into different and almost disconnected genres, and out of these one track comes to my mind as standing out remarkably above the rest - and that is Addison Groove's "Footcrab"

Addison Groove is known better as "Headhunter": dark-and-haunting-style Dubstep maker who is of the same typecast as Jack Sparrow (who had been written about here at some past point). And then one morning this Bristol-based producer decides to put together something different - an old school Miami Bass-styled 2step kicker that revolves around a rolling 808 sound and doesn't let go from start to finish. Let's see you pressing play on this and not moving one limb or another.

This track has already managed to get into mixtapes by Kode9, Surgeon and Scuba, while Addison Groove/Headhunter's own masterful mixtape features the VIP version of "Footcrab". This is definitely the best Dubstep track of the first half of 2010.

Oh, and if you're around Jerusalem get your ass to Bass next Friday for the return of Dub El Wad
